Burney Mac Hamil Jr., passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016, nine days after losing his wife, Geraldine "Jerry" Hamil. Memorial service: A celebration of life for Burney and Jerry Hamil will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Drive, Fort Worth. Burney was born on Oct. 14, 1927, in Fort Worth to Burney and Lelia Hamil. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. Burney met Jerry in 1949 while attending Texas Wesleyan. Avid readers Burney and Jerry enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and their pets. In their later years they built their home in the Sandia Mountains in New Mexico. where they spent 20 peaceful years. Survivors: Daughter, Eileen Bennett; sons, Burney Hamil III and wife, Melody, and Mark Steven Hamil and wife, Bonnie; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; Burney's sister, Terry Sue Hulings; and extended family and friends.
