Obituary

Catherine Bernice Steele Keating, age 69, of Forestburg, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2017. She was born to the late Cleatus and Virigina Steele in Ft. Worth, Texas on October 31, 1947. Cathy attended St. George's Catholic School, Benedictine Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery, and graduated from Carter Riverside High School. Cathy studied biology and nursing at Arlington State College. During her career, Cathy worked at Lubrication Engineers, Lennox Industries, and at the time of her death she was employed at North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville, Texas for over 20 years. Family and friends were Cathy's passion and delight. She lived for her grandchildren tirelessly supporting them in all their endeavors. She loved trips to the casino, fishing, playing Scrabble and Words with Friends, and completing crossword puzzles. Cathy was a voracious reader and lifelong learner. She loved to travel and always visited cathedrals in new places. Cathy is survived by her mother, Virginia Steele, her children Barbara Bridgford, Kevin Keating, and Brian Keating. Cathy leaves behind her four grandchildren - Sydney Keating, Jacob Keating, Bailey Keating, and Brenna Keating. Cathy is also survived by her five siblings: Brenda Blackburn, Debbie Wallace, Larry Steele, Gary Steele and Tom Steele and brother-in-law James Keating. She is survived by 15 nieces and nephews, nine great nieces and great nephews and numerous cousins. Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Keating. Services for Cathy commence Sunday, June 11 with visitation and rosary at St. George's Catholic Church from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mass, presided over by Father Joseph Keating, will commence on June 12 at 10 a.m. Burial immediately following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. All are invited to lunch and to celebrate Cathy's life at St. George Community Hall, June 12 from Noon to 3 p.m.
