Obituary

Charlie Jean "Granny" Wheat, 98 years young, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on August 28, 1927, in Texas to Arthur Roberts and Minnie MaGee.

Charlie Jean was the beloved matriarch of her family, a guiding presence whose love, strength, and steady wisdom shaped generations.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Farris Page Wheat and Aubrey Dean Scruggs; her sons, Farris Wheat and Sonny Wheat; granddaughter Aimee Joiner; and ten brothers and sisters, whom she spoke of often and held close in memory.

She is survived by her daughters, Monya Henson and her husband, Dennis; Debra Murray and her husband, Robbie; grandchildren: Carrie Wheat, Chance Joiner, James Joiner, Autumn Murray, Joel Murray, Kimberly Wheat, Ashley and Jim Ashmore; thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom loved her deeply.

Granny lived a long, full life marked by joy, independence, and a vibrant spirit. She loved to dance and never missed a chance to tap her toes or sway to a good tune. Shopping was one of her favorite pastimes, whether she was finding a good bargain or simply enjoying the outing.

She cherished being connected with her family and always made sure she was up to date on the latest family news. Nothing delighted her more than knowing what everyone was doing and staying woven into the fabric of her loved ones' lives. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, and anyone who walked through her door was greeted with her distinctive, cheerful "Hi-dee!", a greeting that became her signature and a memory her family will forever treasure.

Granny's personality, humor, and unwavering love created a legacy that will live on through every generation that follows her.
