GRAPEVINE -- Dennis D. Roberts, 81, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Service: 2 pm Wednesday, First United Methodist Church, 422 Church St, Grapevine, TX. Visitation: 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm Wednesday, First United Methodist Church, Grapevine. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Youth Summer Camp Scholarship Fund or the Grapevine Elks Lodge. Dennis was born on January 11, 1932 in Daisy Vestry, MS to Horace and Jewel Roberts. He was a Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor and owned Dennis Electric in Grapevine until his retirement. Dennis was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Grapevine. He was involved in many organizations in Grapevine. Some of his involvements where being a long time member of Grapevine Ambucs, Grapevine Masonic Lodge and Grapevine Elks. Dennis was a original member of the Grapevine Festivals Steering Committees for over 29 years. He was recently inducted to the Texas Festival & Events Hall of Honor with Lifetime Achievement. And this year honored as one of the "Volunteer of the Year" for the International Festival & Events Association. Denis was active on many Boards and Committees in Grapevine currently on the Grapevine Convention Visitors Bureau Board. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carol Roberts, his son, Randy Roberts and his sister Melba Wofford. Survivors: Daughter, Robin Shugart and husband Daryl; grandchildren, Lacee Burnett and husband Richard, and Lanae Clark; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Carolicia, Lilyana and Elijah; brother, Wayne Roberts and wife Floss.
