Eric Matthew Childs, 55, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on September 27, 2026, at his home. His creativity, humor and kind heartedness will be forever missed by his family and friends.
Eric was the beloved and devoted husband of Dodie Childs for 17 years.
He was the loving and cherished step-father of Leah Peters of Little Elm and Rachel Childers of Denton and was the incredibly proud “PappE” to Noah Peters, Jayde Childers, and Jace Childers.

He was introduced to the Good News of Christ at a young age and demonstrated his faith in his compassion for others and delight in God’s Word.
Eric was a natural at drawing and being funny and excelled in academics as well as sports. He graduated from The Colony High School in 1989 and went on to earn his degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1998.
He was deeply fulfilled by the daily challenges and strong friendships for the past 11 years at VectorNav Technologies as a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer. Beyond being a dedicated and passionate engineer, Eric is remembered as bringing genuine warmth and positivity to the office each day.
A memorial service celebrating Eric's life will be held on October 7, 2026 at 3:00 pm at the Bent Tree Bible Fellowship in Carrollton in their chapel. We invite all who knew and loved Eric to join us in honoring his memory.
