Erva Jean Bowdre, passed from this life, and heard the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant," on April 6, 2017, in Fort Worth, one month shy of her 74th birthday. Born on May 5, 1943, in Waelder, Texas to the late Emmitt Henry and America Wilson Mitchell, Erva Jean spent most of her adult life in the Dallas- Fort Worth area. Visitation: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at Martin Thompson and Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Drive, Fort Worth. Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Friday, at Altamesa Church of Christ, 4600 Altamesa Blvd., Fort Worth Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery Erva Jean's life was devoted to being enthusiastic, faithful, fully dedicated to her family, and a seeker of God's ways. She and WiIlie were faithful members of Altamesa Church of Christ for almost 40 years. She enjoyed meeting new people, laughing out loud, and being "Aunt Jean" to her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. She will be remembered as being a wonderful conversationalist, exceptional seamstress, hobbyist and talented at other traits too numerous to list. A political activist for decades, Jean served as an Election Judge in Benbrook for many years. Separated from her siblings after the tragic death of their mother and step-father, several years later, Erva Jean and Willie married, they brought her three youngest siblings into their home and raised them as their own. She is predeceased by her parents, and one sister, Mary Mitchell Beasley. Survivors: Devoted husband of 53 years, Willie Bowdre of Benbrook; three sons: Wade Bowdre and fiancée Carrie Hurd of Grapevine, Wendell Bowdre of Dallas, and Winston Bowdre and partner Lori Price of Dallas; siblings: Joe Mitchell, Waymon Mitchell, Levi Mitchell, Martha Bell, Judy Burrell, Fred Mitchell, Lisa Henry, and their families; two grandchildren: Erin Zimmerman and Dani Bowdre, along with a host of family and friends too numerous to list.
