Obituary

Esther Vernell Menefee was born on February 11,1945 in Ft. Worth, Texas to the proud and loving parents, B.M. and Eugenia Cook Menefee. They reared her in Ft. Worth, Texas. She graduated from historic I. M. Terrell High School in 1963, and began working soon after. She accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour and became a lifelong member of the, Morning Chapel C.M.E., following in the footsteps of her mother, who joined in 1913, Esther was a generational member of Morning Chapel C.M.E. She was taught early in life the importance of knowing and having a relationship with the Lord. These values were also instilled into her two sons, Anthony L. and Christopher R. Menefee. Upon entrance to adulthood, Esther began a lifelong charge as a hard-working woman. She was employed by Tandy Wire & Cable and Ft. Worth Independent School District, until her beloved mother fell ill. Then Esther devotedly provided home health care to her. For many years, she devoted her service to ministries as President of The Usher Board, being a Sunday School Teacher and Women's United supporter. Besides her love for the Lord, Esther enjoyed word search and crossword puzzle books. She is preceded in death by her parents, B.M. and Eugenia Cook Menefee; siblings, Mary Lee Selmon, McKinley Menefee, Dorothy Calvert, Isaac Simpkins and William Simpkins. Esther leaves to cherish her legacy, her children, Anthony L. Menefee (Rochelle) and Christopher R. Menefee; grandchildren: Kenya Powell and Marsha J. Hill; great-grandchildren, D'Mario Powell, Kamari Powell, Alysiah Powell and Mar'Kail Chapple; sister, Bobbie J. Chambers (Henry); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will continue to celebrate her life.
