Eva
Padilla
Jul 16, 1948 — Aug 3, 2026
Eva was a force of nature, born in Houston on July 16, 1948. A survivor who touched so many lives in her 78 years. A role model for resilience, she worked hard for her family and for everything she owned. She was a strong woman who demonstrated to all around her that while material possessions might make life easier, they are not the key to a life worth living.
She reinvented herself several times, a tribute to independence, striving for, and ultimately discovering, a career as a cake decorator that spanned decades.
Getting there wasn’t easy. It was a life of perfecting her craft as a baker and decorator at bakeries and at home. Through her work, she filled the world with fantastic colors and sweet confections. Bringing joy to so many lives, hundreds if not thousands of them she might never know.
Still, she made those lives better. A bit happier than they otherwise would have been.
To know Eva, was to know love. Those who knew her witnessed the love of a fighter who battled for those she knew and for what she believed was right. They knew the tough love of a woman who would deliver life’s lessons learned from experience that had carried her through several states and internationally.
Eva forever drew upon her faith, leading her and all those around her to a life in Christ. She radiated an endearing love for all those who passed before her and for those who remain on this Earth.
Eva is preceded in death by her mother Severa Ortegon, stepfather Santos Ortegon, Father Lucas Garcia, sister Dominga Cindy Delgado, brother Adam Garcia, nephews Rafael Delgado and Aaron Rivera and cousins Victoria and Joe Hernandez.
She is survived by her husband Jose Antonio Ramirez, daughters Cyndi Michelle Eguiluz, Kat Hooks, son Refugio “Howie” Padilla, sisters Manuela Nellie Gutierrez and Mary Jane Garcia. She often spoke of how blessed she is to have been able to have so many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Eva spent so much of her life on Earth looking after all of us. On Monday, August 3, 2026, she joined an army of angels who will forever be doing the same.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Lamb of God, 3615 Maurice Ave. in Fort Worth.
A rosary and celebration of life is to be held the following day, Friday, August 21, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Legacy Baptist Church, 5500 Boat Club Road in Fort Worth.
Mom … Sister … Tia … Grandma … Great Grandma … We love you. We will miss you here on Earth. Still, we know you are never far from us.
