Evelyn Rena Hartz, 63, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 19, 2026, after a courageous battle with Uveal Melanoma.

Evelyn was born in November 1962 to Buster G McDuff and Noliah (Boone) McDuff. She was the youngest of three siblings and grew up on the west side of Fort Worth, attending Western Hills High School before graduating from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Interior Design.

While home for summer break before her final year at ACU, she met Barry Hartz at church, and they married just over a year later. They shared a deep love for each other and had just recently celebrated their 40th anniversary. Evelyn was a stay-at-home mother to their three children – a role she viewed as the most important and rewarding accomplishment of her life – and her children loved and admired her deeply. She also enjoyed traveling with Barry (cruises were her favorite), genealogy research, learning to knit, and spending as much time as she could with her two grandbabies.

She had a heart for people and looked for opportunities to love on them where they were and share with them the hope and comfort of Jesus. Her love for Jesus was extremely important to her, and she did more than just talk about it - she lived it and it was evident to everyone who came in contact with her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John McDuff.

Evelyn is survived by her husband; her son, Arron and wife Carolyne; daughter, Amanda and her son Ryan; grandchildren, Luke and Ellie; Brother, Richard McDuff and his wife Merry; Sister-in-law, Sherry McDuff-Burk and 14 nieces and nephews.

Evelyn’s Celebration of Life will be held on October 1, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Valley Creek Church 5800 Long Prairie Rd, Flower Mound, TX 75028.
