Frank Louis Schneider, Jr., age 95, entered his heavenly home on July 15, 2026, surrounded by family at Clyde Cosper Texas State Veterans Home, in Bonham, Texas.

Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Frank spent his early life in Roselle Park, New Jersey, and was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church Elizabeth. Following in his father’s musical footsteps, he mastered the trombone playing in marching bands at Roselle Park Junior and Senior HS. It was said that young “Frankie” had an impish grin and infectious giggle. He was a tenor in the glee club and A Capella Choir, was a class officer, and participated in intramural wrestling. He graduated in 1948.

Interrupting his college studies, in 1951 Frank joined the United States Navy and served four years during the Korean War as a Corpsman on the USS Consolation. He was awarded the Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. While at sea, he was known to practice his trombone on the ship’s deck. In 2017, Frank was invited to participate in a Military Veteran’s Honor Flight to Washington D.C., where he toured the nation’s monuments and memorials with fellow Veterans. He enjoyed attending biannual ship reunions and reconnecting with his shipmates.

After his honorable discharge, Frank went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Upsala Lutheran College in East Orange, New Jersey, graduating in 1957. A natural athlete, Frank was a pole vaulter on the ULC Vikings track team. He became a member of the Pi Delta Phi fraternity.

Frank then began a 38-year career in pharmaceutical research and sales, beginning with CIBA Pharmaceuticals in Summit, New Jersey, concentrating on hypertension medications. As a salesman, he moved his family to Edgewater Park in Burlington County where his territory included Philadelphia. His active social life included membership in the Edgewater Park Jaycees, the Haddonfield Choral Society, the James Marshall Marching Band, the Burlington County Footlighters, Burlington County Masonic Lodge, and St. Luke Lutheran Church in Willingboro, New Jersey.

In 1974, Frank accepted a transfer with CIBA-Geigy and moved his family to Arlington, Texas. He became active at the First Presbyterian Church where he was an avid softball player. He also became a member of the Arlington Civic Choir, played trombone in the Arlington Community Band, and was a member of Theatre Arlington.

In 1985, Frank took over a new sales territory and became a resident of Wichita Falls where he made many friends as he joined the Elks Club, Trinity Lutheran Church, and the Backdoor Theater. A lifelong musician, he stayed musically active playing the trombone in a Wichita Falls community band. He sang in the First Baptist Church Glory Choir and North Texas Men’s Choir and completed music classes at Midwestern State University after his retirement. He was a daily regular at the Wichita Falls YMCA and could be found working out there into his 90s.

A consummate storyteller and always the life of the party, Frank was known to bring his own bongo drums to liven things up. Always armed with a camera, Frank took his family on memorable vacations and fun trips to museums, drive-in movies and, of course, the shore. He was a scout dad, enjoyed playing catch in the yard and cheered his daughter and sons on at ballet recitals, swim meets, band competitions, and baseball games. Frank’s life was filled with joy and passion for his family, Big Band music, dancing, baseball, body surfing at the Jersey Shore, and Martinis.

Frank is survived by his daughter, Brenda Hantsche (Bryan) of Sherman, and his son, Wade Schneider (Sherolyn) of Mansfield, along with nine grandchildren, Lauren Shepherd (Ben), Regan Hart (Marianne), Lindsey Hopper (Matt), Taryn Hart Garza (Bobby), Sydney Hart, Tristan Hantsche, Lindsay Schneider, Casey Schneider Schkade (Parker) and Mandy Schneider, nine great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and goddaughters. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Edna Schneider, sisters Adele Drake and Evelyn Hayes, and his son, Greg.

The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to all the staff of the Clyde Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, Texas, and Hospice Plus in Sherman, Texas, and special caregivers at Brookdale Willows Sherman for the loving care and attention provided to our father.
