Harold L. Spaun, 82, of Joshua Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 27, 2026 at Community Healthcare of Texas hospice house in Fort Worth surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with double pneumonia.

He was born on August 10, 1944, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Catherine (Feasel) and Harold Spaun, both of whom preceded him in death. Harold married Judith A. Wright on March 8, 1982 in Tiffin, Ohio, and she survives in Joshua Texas with her soon residence with her daughter and family in Florida. Together they have three children, Scott Prater (Marisa), Scott preceded in death on November 2, 2016, Robin Feger (Steve), Steve Spaun (Mary Ann) and Seth Spaun (Lisy). Harold loved his family including his grandchildren, Amber Bage (Mike), Kalyn Wood (Kevin), Josh Feger (Ruth), Lydia Inglish (Blake), Noel Burke, Josette Prater, Serenity Prater and Sophie Spaun. Harold was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Hunter Marie Inglish, and eight surviving great-grandchildren, Aiden Bage, Nolan Bage, Elway Jafay, Emerson Wood, Abigail Feger, Hudson Wood, Noah Feger and Lany Inglish.

Harold, known as Butch to many family members, is also survived by his siblings, Marlene (late Lloyd) Matthews, Larry (Margaret) Spaun, Richard Spaun, Christena (late Larry) Gillett, Vicki (late Rex) Huffman, Sam Spaun (Martha). Harold loved his many nieces and nephews and cherished many moment with them all.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Bobby Joe Spaun and his very close brother Jim (Kate) Spaun.

He graduated from Columbian High School, Tiffin, Ohio, in 1962. After graduation Harold was trained by the State of Ohio without a degree at THE Ohio State University and worked on building and maintaining the roads in Northwestern Ohio. He went on into a career in the plastics industry as a Buyer for many years at Millington in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. God called Harold to Texas in 1985 where he continued his career as a Buyer for TU Electric at the nuclear power plant in Glen Rose, Texas. You couldn’t keep Harold down. After he retired from the plant, he picked up some extra work as a Right Away Landman. Harold always paid attention to details which helped him in his career. If you needed a contract signed, he was your man to get the job done.

Harold was an avid reader, especially the Bible. He would study and help others to understand God and how to be a better person. He knew you couldn’t keep it unless you gave it away. He also knew it was better to give than to receive. Harold had an intimate relationship with God, and he also spent countless hours readying and studying with his wife Judy. His goal was to have Christ formed in him, which was his hope of glory (Galatians 4:19). Harold is now experiencing the glory and God he so fervently studied. He had many facets to his life; a type of chameleon so to speak. Harold grew up loving sports and baseball as his favorite sport with a fun gestor of hope that in Heaven he could play at a high level. He was also able to learn new things, to be with those he loved. The last many years of his life he found an interest in exercise and healthy food. You could barely get him to slow down in playing pickleball. Harold spent many years as a strong leader in the church, even as a deacon.

There will be a graveside funeral on Tuesday October 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., Burleson Memorial Cemetery. Friends and family may share stories and fond memories of Harold after the funeral, starting around 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Church, 615 College Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76104. Food will be provided.
