It is with great sadness that the family of Harry Donald Watson announces his passing at the age of 94. Harry died peacefully at his home in Fort Worth, Texas, on August 30, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.

Harry was born on July 28, 1932, in Greenville, North Carolina, the oldest child of William and Lydia Watson. From an early age, he developed a strong sense of dedication, service, and commitment to those around him—qualities that would define his remarkable life.

After graduating from high school, Harry entered the United States Air Force, where he initially served as an operating room technician. During his distinguished 23-year military career, he earned his Bachelor of Nursing degree and was accepted into a highly competitive anesthesia program. Two years later, he completed the program and became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

Following his retirement from the Air Force, Harry established a successful private anesthesia practice in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where he continued practicing for the next 40 years. He also shared his knowledge and experience by teaching anesthesia students at the former Harris Hospital School of Anesthesia. His dedication to his profession and to educating future generations left a lasting impact on many colleagues and students.

Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Karen Watson; his son, Alan Watson; and four brothers, Danny Watson, Dillon Watson, Charles Watson, and William Watson. He was also preceded in death by his parents, William and Lydia Watson.

He is survived by his daughters, Ina Watson of Alexandria, Virginia (Edward) and Leslie Luna of Fort Worth, Texas (Cherie); his sister, Sue Haddock, and brother, Michael Watson, both of Greenville, North Carolina; and his beloved grandchildren:

He also leaves behind his cherished great-grandchildren, McKenzie and John Rielly, Jadelynn Bates, Jacob Harbin, and Dominic and Maya Hendrickson.

Affectionately known as Dad, Papa, Grandpa, Gramps, Poppy, and Pu-paw, Harry’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He was a role model to those who knew him and admired him for his kindness, generosity, and loving nature. Harry had a remarkable ability

to make friends wherever he went, and his wonderful sense of humor brought laughter and joy to those around him.

He also enjoyed socializing, sharing stories, and—perhaps most famously—playing a pretty mean hand of cards. Harry lived a long and accomplished life, but his greatest legacy will not be measured by his professional achievements. It will be found in the love he gave to his family, the friendships he formed, the lives he touched, and the memories he created. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, former colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Harry will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
