Obituary

Hershell L. Knight, 98, passed away February 4, 2017. Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth, TX. Hershell was born January 26, 1919 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Luther and Willie Knight. Hershell joined the Navy and became a pilot and mechanic. He was stationed at Hickam Field in Hawaii. During World War II Hershell kept many aircraft flying, using tin cans to patch holes from enemy gunfire and shrapnel. After the war, he worked for United Gas taking care of their fleet of aircraft. Hershell later retired as the head of aviation for Pennzoil. Hershell loved fishing, hunting, shooting, and boats but you would often find him under the hood of an aircraft. He loved flying around the country with his son. He is preceded in death by 1 sister. Hershell is survived by 1 son; 2 daughters; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and 1 sister.
