Obituary

On the morning of February 15, 2016, James (Jim) Anthony Holcomb, 68, of Benbrook, TX, died in peace, leaving cancer behind. Jim was born in Appleton, WI, on December 1, 1947. He was the only child of Robert J. Holcomb and Elizabeth (Bette) M. Jones Holcomb. Jim's greatest joy as a young man was trout fishing in the streams with his dad. He married Linda L. McLane in 1988 at the Lake Worth Sailing Club (LWSC) in Ft. Worth. The couple shared many exciting adventures together. Jim served in the U.S. Army for two years and was stationed in his beloved Worms, Germany. Jim's interest in computer science and information technology fulfilled his work life; however, his passion and happiness was found in the world of sailing. He served as Commodore, Secretary/Treasurer and active member of the LWSC for over forty years. Jim was preceded in death by Robert Holcomb, Bette Holcomb-Smith, Clayton (Smitty) Smith, Richard Nudelbacher, young cousins Gregory and Bradley Nudelbacher, Jack Lea and Cele Jones all of WI. Jim is remembered with love by his wife, Linda Holcomb; cousins: Joan Lea Mellberg and Tom Nudelbacher and families; Clayton Smith's family; many friends and a tight group of sailors. A memorial of remembrance will be held in April at the dedication for "Holcomb's Hideaway" at the Club. Special thanks to "The Center", TLNR, TX Health HMFW, Vitas hospice and all who visited, prayed and cared for him with incredible acts of loving kindness. Memorial donations may be given to the Lake Worth Sailing Club, Attn: Gordon Kayser, P.O. Box 137512, Ft. Worth, TX, 76136 or to a direct donation page, Woundedheros-texas.org/donate.html.
