Joel Edward McGinnis died at home in Colleyville, TX, on Oct. 9, 2023. He was 68.

Joel was born Aug. 2, 1955, in Seattle to Henry Allen McGinnis and Joanne Marie Connolly McGinnis, both who preceded him in death. He lived in New York, Florida and Pennsylvania before moving to Grapevine for junior high school.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Elaine McGinnis of Grapevine; their daughter Brandi Lee of Yantis, TX; stepdaughters Tammy Hartman of White Bluff, TN, and Kristina Venable of Carrollton, TX, as well as eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is survived by six siblings, all of whom live in the North Texas area: Jackie Bjorum, Joyce Sistrunk, Jim, Jerry, Jay and Jeff McGinnis.

He was a master electrician and woods craftsman who sacrificed his career to care for his wife, who was the love of his life, as her health declined. Even though robbed of his eyesight by a stroke in August 2022, Joe kept his sense of humor and his easy-going personality.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
