John B. Hicks (J.B.), 87, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022.

Services: A visitation will start at 12 p.m. with a service beginning at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76133.

Interment: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX 75211.

John was born on November 17, 1934, in Piney Flats, Tennessee to Dee Franklin and Zella Altilee Hicks. He graduated from Mary Hughes High School where he played basketball. His first job was construction with his dad. He moved to Detroit where he worked in aviation building aircraft. In 1955 he joined the Air Force and retired after 23 years of service. After the Air Force he began his career with General Dynamics/ Lockheed Martin retiring early due to colon cancer after 16 years.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. John enjoyed Nascar, the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Mavericks, western movies, and Gun Smoke.

Survivors: He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pat Hicks; sons, John D. Hicks and wife Sylvia, and Timothy M. Hicks; daughter, Candie Peterson and husband Paul; sister, Virginia Lee Christian; brother, Jimmy D. Hicks; grandchildren, Emily Hicks, Jessica Swafford, Christie Bray, Sarah Peterson, Olivia Peterson, and Brian Hicks; and great-grandchildren, Callie Bray, Weston Bray, and Gracie Swafford.
