Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery
2:15 - 2:45 pm (Central time)
Mark Jerome Kirby, 76, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life that was far more than the mistakes of his past. While his journey was not always easy, those who truly knew him understood the kind, funny, and caring man he became. He believed everyone deserved a second chance, and in his later years he found friendship, acceptance, and a place where he was valued.
Mark proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Though life led him down difficult paths, he never lost his sense of humor or his appreciation for the people who showed him kindness. During the last several years of his life, he built meaningful friendships with those who welcomed him into their lives, sharing holidays, meals, laughter, and companionship.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, his stories, his love of conversation, and the gratitude he showed for even the smallest acts of kindness. His life is a reminder that a person’s past does not define the whole of who they are.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and other loved ones who welcomed him home.
He will be deeply missed by the friends who became his family and by all who had the privilege of knowing the man he was in his later years.
Military honors will be rendered as he is laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, a fitting tribute to his service to our country.
Fair winds and following seas, Mark. May you finally find the peace you so greatly deserved.
