Obituary

Kay Bumpas, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on September 15, 1941, in Balko, Oklahoma, Kay was the cherished daughter of Raymond and Evelyn Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Clifford and Marvin Jackson.

Kay shared a beautiful life with her devoted husband, Don Bumpas, whom she married on August 28, 1965. Their marriage, spanning 61 wonderful years, was a testament to true love and companionship. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and warm memories. Kay is survived by her loving husband, Don; her children, Mike (Bridgette), Bill (Susan), and Donna (Philip). She was a proud and doting grandmother to Kaitlin, Joshua (Karli), Kacey (Bryant), Jacob, Emilee, Avery, and Aiden. Earlier this year, she found immense joy in her great-granddaughter, Murphy.

A woman of deep faith, Kay dedicated much of her life to her church community. Alongside Don, she taught first-grade Sunday School and missions at Travis Avenue Baptist Church for over five decades, touching the lives of countless children and families. Her passion for quilting and crafts was matched by her commitment to the quilting ministry and women’s Bible studies, where she formed lifelong friendships and shared her love for Jesus.

Kay will be remembered for her sweet and gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and her endless kindness. Her love for Jesus shined brightly through her actions and words, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Kay's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2026, Travis Avenue Baptist Church, 800 W Berry St, Fort Worth, TX 76110.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Travis Avenue Baptist Church children’s ministry, continuing Kay’s legacy of faith and love.
