Rasheedah Diane Hamlin was born May 27, 1977, and peacefully transitioned June 25, 2026. She was 49 years old. Rasheedah was born in Hawthorne, California to the proud parents of Johnny and Dorothy Hamlin. Though born in Cali she ended up attending high school in Jackson, Mississippi where she graduated and eventually “by way of” landed in Texas.

Rasheedah was a loving, caring and strong woman; who overcame many obstacles during her lifetime and when you understand her testimony, you understand that she knew Christ and that He knew her! She had such a love for family and others that Marc referred to it as agape – the highest form of love, it’s selfless, sacrificial, and an unconditional commitment that consistently seeks the best interest of others. That was Rasheedah’s heart!

Rasheedah and Marc were introduced over 18 years ago by a mutual friend. There was a connection and the rest is history. One of the greatest blessings from that union is their daughter, Mya. Rasheedah often referred to Mya as her miracle baby. Mya was her pride and joy. She often bragged about her accomplishments and her goals. You knew that she loved Marc, and you knew that she loved Mya.

Rasheedah also felt blessed that Mya had brothers. She knew they loved their sister and would be there for her. She kept tabs on them, always asking how they were, where they were and when they were coming home. She was always happy to see or hear from them.

Rasheedah cooked…a lot and enjoyed booking catering events. What did she do for fun you ask…music…all genres of music including the rock group Nine-Inch Nails, along with Meshell Ndegeocello, Foo Fighters, Marsha Ambrosius and Johnnie Taylor.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents and her mother, Dorothy Hamlin, who passed away six years ago.

She leaves the following loved ones to cherish her memories: loving spouse, Marc Thacker; loving daughter, Mya Hamlin; stepsons Preston, Josiah and Alonzo; loving father, Johnny Hamlin; sisters, Ora and Jameela; nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Services: A visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. with a service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Martin Thompson & Son Chapel, 6009 Wedgwood Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76133.

Interment: Crowley Cemetery, 300 N Hampton Rd, Crowley, TX 76036.
