Obituary

Richie Lee Russell, age 96, passed away peacefully December 21, 2020. She was born October 13, 1924 in Marshall, TX to Arbie and Charlie Green. She married Nelson Buckley in 1941. Two sons were born to this union, VeOdis and Lee Altha. This marriage ended. Later in life she married JT Russell in 1970, who preceded her in death. Richie was a baker for many years at Neiman Marcus from where she retired. Famous for her popovers she would travel for Neiman Marcus to train others on her baking techniques. Richie loved the lord and lived her life accordingly. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Mount Gilead until her health declined. She served as the president of the women's mission, Sunday school teacher and member of the choir. Even in declining health, Richie could sing every word to many and old gospel 100. Richie had a big heart and shared her joy and unbreakable spirit with all those around her. She was a nurturer and caregiver, caring for her mother until her mother's death. The world will be a little less bright without her. Richie is survived by her loving son and caregiver, Lee Altha Buckley – Mansfield, TX; her grandchildren, Gail Buckley(Greg Powell) – Ft. Worth, TX, Kim Newton (Leslie)- Ft. Worth, TX, Shelly McWhite (Sidney) – Cypress, TX, Leslie Buckley – Pearland, TX, Britney Buckley (Dez Hawkins) – Arlington, TX, Richard Buckley – Arlington, TX, Vealtha Buckley, Micheal Jordan Buckley – Angeles City, Philippines, Katherine Buckley and Vinnia Buckley – New York, NY and a host of great grandchildren and loving friends. Please join us according to the guidelines of CDC to celebrate her life Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Skyvue Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 7220 Rendon Bloodworth Rd., Mansfield, TX 76063. Visitation will be held at Thompson & Son Funeral Home on December 27, 2020, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
