Obituary

Sandy Ayres, 68, a beloved wife and mother, and a dear friend to many, passed away on Sept. 8, 2016 after an eight-year battle with cancer. MEMORIAL SERVICE: A memorial service for family and friends will be 3 p.m., Oct. 23, at the Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth, TX. MEMORIALS: Sandy would appreciate any gifts in her memory be given to the Mental Health Connection of Tarrant County. Sandy was born in Corpus Christi, TX and married John in 1976. She was devoted to their son, Jeremiah, and her tenacity and sacrifice helped him become the kind, intelligent man he is today. She worked initially as a paralegal in Dallas, and most recently at Whitaker Chalk Swindle & Schwartz law firm in Fort Worth. Outside of work, she also was a talented sculptress, shaping fine porcelain into beautiful botanical pieces. More than all else, Sandy loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Her family and friends take comfort knowing that now she is happy and whole in the presence of God. The family wants to thank the doctors, PAs, nurses and staff at Texas Oncology for their diligent care. Special thanks to Dr. Jerry Barker, Dr. Alan Davenport, and Dr. Wayne English for their years of physical and spiritual care, and to Laura G. and Ella H. of Community Hospice for their love and care. SURVIVORS: John, her husband of 40 years; son Jeremiah; mother Aileen Smith; mother-in-law Ramona Ayres-Walker; brother Spencer Smith; nieces Brandi Greenbaum and Janie Fain; nephews Billy Fain and Spencer Smith, Jr., and many friends.
