Valena Dell Massingill, 68, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 29, 2021. Service: 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2021 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd, River Oaks, TX 76114. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park, 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76134. Valena was born on June 5, 1952 to L.G. and Mildred Brown Akins. On December 4, 1970, she married the love of her life, Jimmy. For 30 years she worked at the Bank of Crowley (later Texas Exchange Bank) building relationships with and serving the people in her community. Valena loved spending time with her family, decorating for holidays, and giving gifts. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, cherished friend, respected mother figure, and a proud, strong woman through adversity. Valena is preceded in death by her parents, L.G. and Mildred Akins; husband, Jimmy Massingill; and brother, Gene Akins. She is survived by her son, Robert Massingill and wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Peyton, Ross, and Charlotte Massingill; brother, Jerry Akins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
