Obituary

Willem Carel "Rassie" Erasmus (January 19, 1951 - January 16, 2019) It is with deep sadness that we announce that on Wednesday, January 16th, 2019, Rassie finished his hard-fought battle with cancer and went home to be with his Heavenly Father. Rassie was born on January 19, 1951, to his parents Bossie and Lourens Erasmus in Thabazimbi, South Africa. Rassie grew up in Rustenburg, alongside his brothers Piet and Lourens. Rassie married his high school sweetheart, Beverley, with whom he shared two beautiful children. Rassie was an outstanding athlete throughout his entire life. Most will remember him for his outstanding karate skills and his performance on the rugby field. He was also a dedicated member of the South African police force, Diamond and Gold Branch, and the K-9 Unit. In more recent years, he joyfully became a grandfather, relocated to Texas, and proudly became a United States citizen. One of his dreams, was to be able to vote as an American. Rassie accomplished this during the November election. Rassie, is survived by his loving wife, Beverley Erasmus; Children, Quentin Erasmus (Martha), Nadene Barrick (Taylor); Grandchildren, Lenro, Dylan, Ethan, and Wynand (Quentin); Four-legged Grandchildren, Tallulah, Maddie, and Remington. Relatives and friends are invited to join in a Celebration of Rassie's Life, on what would have been his 68th Birthday, January 19, 2019 from 11:00 - 1:00pm at the Providence Village Main Clubhouse, 809 Oakcrest Dr, Providence Village, TX 76227 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dallas Pets Alive in his honor (http://dallaspetsalive.org).
